One hundred and ten humanoid robots developed by Chinese company AGIBOT set a Guinness record by performing a synchronized dance at the same time. The robots maintained coordinated movements while jumping, arranging themselves into different formations and forming the number “2026”.

The demonstration was held on 24 October in Jinan, Shandong province, China. A total of 110 humanoid robots from the Expedition A3 model took part in the performance at the Huanghe International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The robots, which are close to human height, moved in formation, jumped and switched positions as they carried out a complex dance program. Their performance included wave-like movements and several rearrangements into different shapes.

At one point, the robots positioned themselves to create “2026”. As the routine moved from one section to another, the full group continued to carry out the choreography in coordination.

A representative of the Guinness record book attended the event, checked the number of participating robots and presented an official certificate. The result was registered as a record for the number of humanoid robots dancing simultaneously.

AGIBOT said it used its LinkBots platform to coordinate the robots’ movements. The platform is designed for planning and managing the tasks and movements of many robots as a group. According to the company, all 110 robots were mass-produced models and had not been specially modified for the performance. The synchronized dance, however, was a controlled demonstration and does not by itself prove that the robots can perform complex tasks with the same reliability in factories or other real-world work environments.
