Mohsen Rezaei, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and a major general, said the war with Iran that he said US President Donald Trump had started ended in a political defeat for Trump.
In a post on social media, Rezaei commented on the results of US congressional midterm elections. He said the consequences of the war had also been reflected in domestic politics in the United States.
Rezaei claimed that Iran had gained military and strategic superiority over the United States. He said the Iranian nation had inflicted a strategic defeat on Trump on the battlefield and in Hormuz, and a political defeat in Washington.
Rezaei also argued that the cost of the war he said Trump started had been imposed on the American public. “Anyone who confronts Iran will pay the price for it from the battlefield to their own doorstep,” he said.
