Samarkand will host the first SCO+ expert dialogue on security issues on 5–6 November. The event is expected to bring together 33 delegations from 24 countries, alongside representatives of five international organizations.
The meeting will be chaired by B. Qurbonov, head of Uzbekistan’s State Security Service and a colonel general. Heads and representatives of special services from SCO member states, observer countries and dialogue partners will take part.
The central theme of the dialogue will be countering terrorism and extremism amid digital transformation. Participants will discuss how advanced technologies and artificial intelligence affect contemporary threats and security risks.
The talks are expected to identify specific tasks and priority areas for cooperation against international terrorism and extremism. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed establishing the format at the SCO summit in Astana in 2024; at the summit held in Tianjin in 2025, the first dialogue was proposed for Samarkand.
